Engineer by profession.
Storyteller by instinct.

About Gert Hoffmann
Gert Hoffmann is an engineer by profession and a storyteller by instinct.
Drawing on a lifetime of solving complex problems, Gert writes intelligent, psychologically driven stories where precision, morality, history, and human behavior collide.
As a mechanical engineer, he approaches fiction with an eye for structure, detail, cause, and consequence. But his stories are not about systems. They are about people – people placed in extraordinary circumstances, forced to make impossible decisions when justice, certainty, and conventional rules begin to fail.
Gert’s work spans three areas, connected by one approach: intelligent storytelling, meticulous research, and moral ambiguity.
His debut novel, The Protocol of Vengeance, published as Gerhardt Hoffmann, is a psychological crime-noir that examines grief, justice, and the cost of taking the law into your own hands.
As Daniel Mercer, he wrote The Betrayal Protocol, a work of investigative narrative non-fiction. Reconstructed from personal experience, documents, and months of WhatsApp conversations, it explores romance fraud, deception, and the uncomfortable distance between what we want to believe and what can be proven.
He is currently developing Pentalogy under his own name, a multi-generational historical saga. Beginning in German East Africa during World War I, it weaves documented history with intimate human drama to explore war, colonialism, loyalty, and the consequences that echo across generations.
Rather than chase sensationalism, Gert is committed to credible, thoughtful storytelling. His goal is to build a lasting author brand centered on precision, psychology, and truth – stories that make readers question what is right, justified, or true.
Gert lives in Germany and writes primarily in English and German, with occasional work in Danish.
