One ordinary afternoon, a man loses everything that gave his life meaning. His wife and seven-year-old daughter are killed, leaving behind a grief for which there is no remedy and an injustice the legal system cannot undo.
He does not disappear. He does not surrender to rage. Instead, he sets a plan in motion.
A man accustomed to precision, discipline and control, he approaches vengeance as he would any complex problem: methodically. Every movement is prepared, every target carefully chosen, every possibility considered. What begins to take shape is not an impulsive act of revenge, but something far more deliberate.
He calls it The Protocol.

En helt almindelig eftermiddag mister en mand alt det, der gav hans liv mening. Hans kone og syvårige datter bliver dræbt og efterlader ham med en sorg, der ikke kan heles, samt et svigt fra retssystemet, som ingen kan gøre godt igen.
Han forsvinder ikke. Han overgiver sig heller ikke til vreden. I stedet sætter han en plan i værk.

Mens protokollen udfolder sig, og afstanden mellem retfærdighed og hævn bliver stadig mindre, tvinges han til at konfrontere et spørgsmål, som ingen mængde forberedelse kan besvare: Hvornår bliver retfærdighed til mord?
